The King Isosceles Story

The King Isosceles firebowl embodies an intriguing geometric aesthetic within the deep curves cut into its profile. The lines of the King Isosceles speak of a pleasing simplicity, a clean and subtle elegance. These lines are a symbol of reason and rigor, of comfort and symmetry, of civilization built on classical forms and knowledge.

Western culture has long held the austere beauty of Euclidean geometry to be a glimpse into an otherworldly system of perfection and certainty, even as its proofs are grounded solidly in the natural laws of the material world.

As a sculptor, I'm fascinated by form, volume and geometry. The simplest designs are often the most difficult to get right— they must meet a higher standard of perfection than organic forms, as any error immediately draws the eye. For me, art is best when it overlaps myth and math, symbol and science, form and function.

Abraham Lincoln was known to read Euclid's Geometry by candlelight, convinced its mathematical proofs would quicken his logic and oratory in the courtroom. The King Isosceles firebowl is a modernist homage to this classical approach to eloquence, and my hope is that it will inspire your stories told round the blaze.

Dimensions:
- 37" Diameter, 33" point-to-point, 22" high overall, base is 12" in diameter and 6" tall. Weight: 110 pounds.
- 41" Diameter, 35" point-to-point, 26" high overall, base is 16" in diameter and 6" tall. Weight: 160 pounds.
Thickness:
Sculptural Firebowls are cut from 1/4 inch steel, TEN TIMES thicker than most mass-produced fire pits.

Material:
Sculptural Firebowls are hand made from American made High-Strength, Low-Alloy, Cold-Rolled Steel.

Details:
Sculptural Firebowls are are signed by the artist with a stainless steel signature plate.

The finish is a natural rust patina which is self-healing and protects the metal from further oxidation.

A one inch hole in the bowl's center provides drainage and makes gas conversion simple.

Four small holes above the base provide air flow for the fire and prevent propane from accumulating if the bowl is converted to LP gas.

Sculptural Firebowls are suitable for wood, propane or natural gas and ship ready-to-fit for clean-burning propane or natural gas.

Upgrade kits are sold separately: Hearth Products Controls (HPC) makes a wide variety of UL listed burner kits that will easily convert my firebowls to natural gas or propane. The best option is to purchase them on Amazon with free shipping and simple returns if needed. I cannot provide tech support as I am not an expert in gas or plumbing but instructions are included and HPC can be contacted directly if you need further support.
